Although we are the youngest of the Block Nurse Programs, incorporating in July, 2008, our services are many. In order to extend care of the east side of Saint Paul, the East Side Wellness Collaborative was cofounded by our executive director to ensure that services were not duplicated by various agencies. We obtained our 501(c)3 status in our first year. Our board consists of established members of the community well versed in the needs of elders.Working with First Lutheran Church we have wellness outreach to Hmong elders, Latino elders, homeless folks, and grieving folks several times a week. Health professionals as well as student nurses participate. Foot care, wound care, blood glucose, blood pressure check, and education are some of our many functions. We serve 15 to 30 clients each week at the Parkway Gardens Wellness Clinic, which was funded by The Saint Paul Foundation and partnered with Metes and Bounds and the University of Minnesota School of Nursing. On September 13, 2011, we opened our newest wellness clinic located at Wilson Hi-Rise. Funding by Otto Bremer and partnered with Saint Paul Public Housing  and the University of Minnesota School of Nursing has made this new clinic possible.Dayton’s Bluff Seniors mission is to build a circle of care around the elders in Dayton’s Bluff to empower seniors to live safe and independent in their own homes and to prevent falls and support the persons caring for the senior. Our greatest need is to fund our executive director full time. First Lutheran Church has graciously donated space, telephone, internet and much much more. We are so grateful.A few dollars spent on our program has far reaching cost savings to individuals and the community.
